For many single men in China, realistic sex dolls have replaced having real girlfriends. The “love doll” business is booming. This is due to the shortage of women in their 20’s available for young men, due to China’s one-child-only policy where couples selectively aborted females, thinking they were inferior to males. Now their sons are banging giant silicone dolls.
A man named Lui who was too embarrassed to give his real name, told The Japan Times that the salesman told him “Most people think the dolls are more attractive than real women,” the most bizarre sales pitch ever. He forgot to mention that the dolls never say no, do whatever you want, and don’t ask you to take them out to dinner or be nice to them.
