Sextoy Review: Vibrating Cock Ring By Phanxy

By M.Christian

When all’s said and done, I have a pretty sweet gig. I mean, what could be better than being sent sextoys to play with, followed by sharing my thoughts about them for the fab folx here at Sexpert.com?

Not that it’s all sunshine and rainbows, as I have a certain degree of responsibility and am expected to be honest, brutally even, when the vibrating, oscillating, thrusting, or whatever-it-is-they-do plaything doesn’t measure up in the pleasuring department.

Fortunately, while I’ve received a fair share of sextoy lemons, the good, for far at least, has outweighed the bad.

Case in point is Phanxy’s Vibrating Cock Ring: a nifty bit of sextech fun that had this penis-equipped person grinning quite widely.

What is Phanxy’s Vibrating Cock Ring all about?

When anyone puts the words “cock” and “ring” together in that order my sexual ears (now that’s an image!) prick up. As a longtime fan of these types of toys, I’m very familiar with their appeal.

In case you aren’t, here’s a far-too-brief write up on what they are, how they work, and why Phanxy’s Vibrating Cock Ring is an excellent example of how to do them right.

In essence cock rings are a loop of material placed around the shaft of a flaccid penis and behind the testicles. They can be made of just about anything, including stretchy stuff like latex, rubber, or jelly-like plastics all the way to extremely unstretchy materials such as steel.

For the uninitiated, I heartily suggest sticking with the more rather than less flexible models—the why behind this I’ll get to in a moment.

For how they work, cock rings gently restrict blood flow to and from the shaft and head of the penis. Notice that keyword, gently, as they shouldn’t be too tight as this can potentially damage the shaft’s somewhat delicate spongy tissues: the ones that enable a penis to achieve and maintain an erection.

When they do fit perfectly, however, cock rings can be a blast. To begin with, the slight reduction in blood flow can help the person wearing it get hard and stay hard, making it ideal for those with concerns about erections. The same restriction also makes them ideal for people who feel they might come too fast as cock rings often reduce penis sensitivity.

Back to materials, and equally, why Phanxy’s Vibrating Cock Ring does its sextech thing so well, it can be tricky to find a cock ring that lies within that Goldilocks zone of tight enough (gently, again) and not right enough.

Because of this, I’m hesitant to recommend most vibrator-style cock rings as the choice of what works and what doesn’t can be highly individualistic. So while it isn’t a big deal for more affordable rings, it doesn’t usually make sense to shell out a lot of money for one a vibrating one only to find out it isn’t comfortable or effective.

Regarding Phanxy’s Vibrating Cock Ring, it does the rare thing of walking that ever-so fine line, so unless you like your rings on the excessively tight side—or of the metallic variety—then it’s definitely worth buying.

Looping back to my reference of steel rings, for those new to cock rings, there’s something you should also be aware of. That when playtime is over, you have to be able to get the things off—since leaving them on for an excessive length of time can cause injury.

For well-made toys like Phanxy’s Vibrating Cock Ring, that isn’t an issue, though; with inflexible metal rings, it means you have to wait until the penis becomes flaccid. So unless you have a pretty good amount of experience with them, it’s better to stick with the flexible variety.

Phanxy’s toy has another unique and enjoyable feature as it sports two loops: as their Amazon page illustrates, the first goes around the penis shaft and behind the testicles while the second should be fitted in front of them.

Along with an extra degree of restriction, this means the toy won’t unnecessarily flop around. This lack of flopping is vital as it keeps the vibrating part of the toy nestled against the shaft as well as the testicles.

You can even rotate it so that its vibration component makes contact with a partner’s genitals: allowing you both to get off on it.

An exciting bundle of pleasures

If I had to pick one type of sextoy that keeps popping up in my less-than-stellar reviews, it is—to unashamedly burrow from uber-culinary nerd Alton Brown—the uni-taskers: devices or gadgets designed to be all or nothing.

Why this is an issue is for a majority of humans on this tiny blue marble, sex isn’t like a light switch: that pleasure sometimes needs a little less, a little more of something to put a smile on our faces. So a toy that works in a single, solitary way—with no room for modification or adjustments—isn’t as good as one with multiple variations.

Combinations like those offered by Phanxy’s Vibrating Cock Ring. Two rings too much, then feel free to use one. Not into a vibrating toy?  Well, you don’t have to switch it on.

I think you get the picture. In addition, its nicely powerful vibrator has nine pre-set intensities and vibration patterns, giving it a great range to allow users to find their placement and buzzing sweet spot.

If nine doesn’t sound impressive, keep in mind when measured against other, far more expensive toys, the Phanxy’s Vibrating Cock Ring delivers what they could only hope to in that department.

Extra added features

Returning to my quasi-brag about being a sextoy reviewer, one more thing I wish the industry would address is control. I’m referring to how manufacturers seem to keep forgetting sex can produce various messy—and slippery—secretions.

A slickness that makes turning a sextoy on or off, or adjusting it, practically impossible. Especially when reaching a button or buttons takes gymnastics on par with page 100 of the Kama Sutra.

Phanxy appears to be well aware of this, so their Vibrating Cock Ring comes with a neat little remote control. Further demonstrating how well their toy is made, it took zero effort to set it up and use it. Seriously, I whistled at how seamlessly it worked.

Bravo, Phanxy … Phanxy, indeed!

Cleaning, charging, and what you get

Made of body-safe silicone, the Vibrating Cock Ring is 100% waterproof: making it ideal for bath or shower-time fun and easy to clean: use a small amount of gentle antibacterial soap and warm (not hot) water followed by a lint-free cloth, and you’re ready for next time.

Charging is done by a standard USB cable (provided) which magnetically attaches to the toy or the remote—earning Phanxy another bravo as you’ll never have to pay for frustratingly small and expensive batteries again.

Unfortunately, you can’t charge the remote and the toy at the same time, done but they both appear to have an impressive battery life, so I doubt that’ll be a huge concern. Also, unlike other magnetic charging systems, the one Phanxy has developed provides a good, firm grip: so it should stay nicely connected unless completely jerked free.

With the toy, the remote, and the cable, users receive an instruction card explaining charging, cleaning, and safety tips.

Also included is a thank you card with warranty info and, as with their 2 in 1 Vibrating & Sucking Clitoral Vibrator I recently reviewed, you can email the company to get a free bottle of lube or a $10 Amazon gift card.

The verdict

With their Vibrating Cock Ring, Phanxy ticks all the exciting and pleasurable sextoy boxes: flexibility, innovation, quality manufacturing, power, and affordability.

As with their 2 in 1 Vibrating & Sucking Clitoral Vibrator, that you get all of this—and more—for such a ridiculously low price kicks the Vibration Cock Ring well into the category of why not?

So if you enjoy cock rings or are intimately familiar with someone who does or merely curious about them, I enthusiastically recommend giving Phanxy’s Vibrating Cock Ring a whirl … or buzz, as the case may be.
